The Power of the Outsider
We recognise the richness that outsiders can bring into our nursery school. During ‘Uniform Week’ we invite people from the local community and beyond inspiring children and promoting an ambitious outlook for their future. We have visits from the local police station, the school crossing patrol, vets, radiographers and nurses. The children develop a ‘Wall of Dreams’ following the visits, sharing new vocabulary as they talk about job roles and titles.
The Power of the Outside
Children at Harrington nursery have opportunities for whole school and group trips which take place in our local community and beyond. Whole school trips to places such as Rosliston Forestry Centre, Cleethorpes and Elvaston Castle give children opportunities to experience new environments, develop vocabulary and inspire them to talk to their peers about what they see and what they are doing. Smaller groups go on minibus trips to places such as Lanes Farm, Mr Pumpkin and Hannah Fields Community Garden. All trips have a positive impact on the holistic development of all children and ensure that the children experience the awe and wonder of the world.
