BE BELONG BECOME

every child succeeds

We plan the learning opportunities by identifying children's interests from observing their play and parental input.  We are observing children to identify their interests in order to plan the focus for learning for this term.  This learning will take place both indoors and outdoors.

Research shows children's wellbeing is enriched by being outdoors because nature provides learning experiences and is a natural stimuli for children.  Through outdoor play and educational visits, young children can learn skills of social interaction, friendship, care for living things and their environment.  It provides holistic growth for children allowing individuality, imagination, awe and wonder.  In order to support this we ask parents to send spare clothes for their children and be understanding of our desire to provide children with these opportunities.  Please do not hesitate to speak to one of the team if you have any concerns.

Please continue to let us know your child's hobbies and interests to help to plan your child's future learning.

In order to support your child's learning in the home, you are welcome to borrow educational toys and games.  We have phonic games available to borrow to aid your child's reading and writing.  The staff will show you the aims of the games to support you at home.  Please ask for more information.

We pride ourselves in building relationships with families.  During the year we offer sessions where families can join their child through Harrington Hummingbirds and Families are Best (FAB) sessions.

Harrington Hummingbirds (HHB)

Engaging parents and carers and getting them involved with their children’s development and learning is something we are passionate about. We invite all parents/carers to a monthly HHB session where we sing, dance, share stories and get active and creative. Our sessions nurture the bond between children and their carers and help to develop language and communication and social skills whilst having lots of fun and ‘sparkling’ a little brighter.

Families are Best (FAB)

Our ‘Families are Best’ (FAB) sessions take place throughout the year. We invite parents/carers to join in with some research based adult learning to support their child’s development focusing on topics such as ‘The Importance of Reading’ and ‘How to support Mathematical Development in the home environment’. The children then join in to put into practice all the ideas we have shared.

Additionally if you would like copies of any information from our website we are able to print this for you free of charge.

We will always look at a change of seasons, patterns in the environment and nature and then see where the children will take this.
